TECOM and Sama Dubai to Jointly Create ‘SmartCity’ Clusters Worldwide
TECOM Investments and Sama Dubai,
both members of Dubai Holding, have
announced the formation of ‘SmartCity’ a
joint venture company which will develop
and manage knowledge industry townships
worldwide.
‘SmartCity’ will combine TECOM’s
specialised expertise, in the creation and
management of knowledge based
industry clusters, with Sama Dubai’s
strength in international real estate development
to create an infrastructure and
environment catered to the requirements
of knowledge based companies and
knowledge workers.
‘SmartCity’, which is expected to have a
significant impact on the economies in
which it is established, will create vibrant
knowledge economy communities which
are anchored by leading global and
regional names in the industry to facilitate
knowledge transfer and job creation.

General Electric (GE) Moves into New Dedicated Regional Headquarters Building in Dubai Internet City
General Electric (GE), the multinational
American technology and services
conglomerate recently moved into its new
dedicated regional headquarters building
in Dubai Internet City.
The 4-storey, 65,000 square feet building
was inaugurated by Jeffrey Immelt,
chairman and chief executive officer of
GE in the presence of Jamal Abdul Salam,
Executive Director DIC, Majed Alsuwaidi,
Director of Sales DIC and other officials
from the sales and partner relations
departments.
With the inauguration of the new building
GE has become the first DIC business
partner to lease a whole building for itself.
