Dubai Internet City (DIC), this week, hosted a 14-member delegation from Singapore led by Lee Boon Yang, Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts (ICA). Prominent members of this delegation included Clement Chuae Huai Keng, Assistant Manger, Info-Communications and Media Development Division (ICA), Ho Chee Pong, Director, Info-Communications & Media Development Division (ICA) and Dileep Nair, Consul General of the Republic of Singapore in Dubai.

The delegation was received by Abdullatif Al Mulla, Deputy CEO, TECOM Investments, Malek Al Malek, Director, Partner Relations, DIC and Ibrahim Al Asmawi, Regional Sales Manager, DIC.

After attending a brief presentation on Dubai Internet City and its role in developing the ICT industry in the region, the delegation had the chance to exchange views. Both sides discussed the possibility of collaboration between DIC and Singapore, and exchanged ideas on mutually beneficial projects.

Abdullatif Al Mulla said: “As part of our efforts to explore opportunities for collaboration and identify new support services for our partners, DIC is always looking for linkages with markets like Singapore”.

“Singapore already has a strong infrastructure to support the growth of ICT in the region, as evidenced by the many surveys that have consistently ranked Singapore highly in terms of e-commerce readiness” he added.

Lee Boon Yang, Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts (ICA) said: “Dubai Internet city is a role model in the ICT industry and a fast growing hub in the region, Singapore is keen to discuss possible ways of collaboration with DIC”.

This is the third delegation visiting Dubai Internet City within a month to explore cooperation. Recent visitors to Dubai Internet City included a high-level delegation from New Zealand and a UNDP-sponsored delegation of policy makers from Malaysia, Jordan and Afghanistan.
