Some of the high-profile delegates that visited the Dubai Internet City stand included Touch Heng, Under-Secretary of State of Cambodia and Omar Al Kurdi, Minister for Information and Communications Technology of Jordan. They were received by Majed Al Suwaidi, Director of Sales, DIC and Saeed Ghubash Regional Sales Manager, who briefed them on the concept of Dubai Internet City.
Jamal Abdulsalam, Executive Director, Dubai Internet City said, “The CommunicAsia exhibition provided a platform for DIC to reach out to the Far East market, which has some of the fastest growing economies of the world today.
“All the major industry segments, particularly companies specialising in telecommunications expressed interest in Dubai Internet City. Over 30 companies showed firm interest in relocating some of their operations to DIC,” Abdulsalam added.
He said that the firststeps@DIC, a facility that allows companies to lease short-term office space evoked tremendous interest from Asian companies as they see it as a stepping stone towards having bigger operations in the Middle East.
Abdulsalam said potential investors were very impressed with DIC incentives that include 100% exemption from taxes, 100% repatriation of capital and profits, no currency restrictions, easy registration and licensing, stringent cyber regulations and protection of intellectual property rights.
DIC also provides companies with state-of-the-art technology and communications infrastructure and a range of support services. It provides an environment that attracts most elements of the ICT value chain giving companies exceptional channel development opportunities. Rich networking opportunities and social events ensure companies can constantly explore business prospects.
DIC’s parent company TECOM Investments recently opened a new office in Shenzhen in China. The new office will provide easier access for DIC-based companies to the ICT market in East Asia, offering new opportunities for partnerships and business development.
