Dubai Internet City, a member of TECOM Investments, today announced it will highlight its growing presence in the ICT sector during its second consecutive partnership with Telecoms World Middle East 2011.

To be held from 3 - 6 October at Jumeirah Emirates Towers in Dubai, the sixth edition of the event will bring together over 500 industry professionals and more than 90 telecom operators from across the Middle East, including mobile and fixed operators, wholesale carriers, regulators, network infrastructure vendors, system integrators, lawyers, consultants and content owners.

Featuring five different seminars under one umbrella, the show will deliberate on crucial topics that impact the growth of the telecom industry such as revenue growth and future investment. Keynote speeches by eminent decision-makers and CEOs of ICT majors including Ali Amiri, EVP Carrier and Wholesale, Etisalat, and His Excellency Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, Director General, TRA, UAE will be a key highlight.

The ‘Telecoms World Awards Middle East’ will be held on the second day of the event and recognise outstanding achievement of organisations in contributing to the development of theindustry in the Middle East.

‘Carriers World Middle East’, the first of five seminars in the event, will address the wholesale segment offering an avenue to seek new strategies and business opportunities. During this segment, a debate on ‘Wholesale carriers should consolidate operations across their global footprint to drive cost reduction’ will be spearheaded by Chandan Ghosh, Head of Carrier Wholesale and Enterprise Business, Aircel, India, and Mohammed Bouhelal, Wholesale and Carriers Relations Director, Etisalat Nigeria. Other key executives including Khaled Tabbara, VP Carrier Services, Du, UAE, and Anup Gupta, Business Head ME and Africa, Bharti Airtel Limited, India, will also headline the session.

A seminar titled ‘Telecoms World Middle East’ will take centre-stage on the second and third day. Its agenda will include vital discussions by industry experts, a debate on ‘Operators in the Middle East will have to abandon flat rate billing if they are to reap the actual’ and a CEO panel session on ‘Taking back the customer as competitive new players test loyalty’.

Inaugurated by His Excellency Eng. Mohammed Tawfeq Allawi, Minister of Communications, Iraqi Government, a discussion on ‘Telecoms World Iraq’ will be held on the fourth day. The agenda will include panel discussions on investing in ICT in Iraq, positioning Iraq as a rising global player in the telecoms arena and ‘driving internet growth with LTE investment and deployment’.

The event will conclude with a seminar titled ‘LTE Middle East’ addressing topics such as investing in LTE, generating ROI from LTE investment, LTE migration and spectrum licensing.
