N R Narayana Murthy, one of the founders of the giant Infosys Technologies and now its Non-Executive Chairman and Chief Mentor, participated in an interactive discussion with TiE members, students and other members of the community at an event organised by TiE Dubai in the Knowledge Village Auditorium on Sunday 9th December 2007.

Speaking on the occasion, to a packed auditorium,Gautam Sen Gupta, President of TiE Dubai and Partner in the local firm Market Vision Research & Consulting, said that ‘Narayana Murthy is one of the greatest business leaders of our times; it was an honour for TiE to host him in Dubai – a small tribute from our great city to a great international personality’.
During his interactive discussion with the audience, Narayana Murthy spoke of the role of entrepreneurship in the progress of economies, the need for industry and academia to collaborate to improve education standards, the concept of compassionate capitalism, and the importance of value systems for the betterment of companies, communities and society at large.
TiE is one of the most respected not-for-profit organizations worldwide fostering entrepreneurship globally – enabling, catalyzing and promoting entrepreneurship. From its beginnings in the early-1990s in the Silicon Valley, TiE now has about 50 chapters worldwide; the Dubai chapter has been active since 2003. Narayana Murthy is also a Trustee on the TiE Global Board of Trustees.
Some of the dignitaries who enjoyed the interactive event included HE Venu Rajamony, Consul General India, Dr.Abdulla Al Karam, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General of KHDA and several prominent business personalities and charter members and representatives from Dubai Internet City.
